My experience with special needs children...
My brother, who is a few years younger than I am, has autism. For the last couple of years, I have taken care of him if my parents ever needed me to. It was difficult in the beginning, but I got used to it. I never treat him like he is a different kid, because he is still a kid, a normal kid, just a little different which is always fine. I always help my brother with his schoolwork and staying focused on it, since he sometimes has difficulty focusing.
