A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Katelyn, I’m 23 years old, and I have several years of experience working with children of all ages. I have experience caring for children from newborns through age 16, with most of my experience being with children ages 1–5. I’ve worked in daycare settings, as a nanny, and as a lead camp counselor for three summers, so I’m very comfortable keeping kids safe, entertained, and engaged throughout the day.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Mississippi State University, and I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Orthotics and Prosthetics. I’m CPR and First Aid certified (including infant CPR and First Aid).

I love working with kids and getting to know their individual personalities. I enjoy being active, playing games, doing crafts, spending time outside, and finding fun ways to keep kids learning and entertained. I’m dependable, patient, and caring, and I always want the children I’m with to feel comfortable, safe, and excited to spend time together!

I have several years of childcare experience working with children from newborns through age 16, with most of my experience being with ages 1–5. My experience has included supervising daily activities, planning fun and educational activities, helping with routines, and creating a safe and positive environment for children. I am CPR and First Aid certified, including infant CPR and First Aid. I truly enjoy working with children, getting to know their individual personalities, and keeping them active, engaged, and having fun!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time with children and finding fun ways to keep them active, engaged, and entertained. I enjoy playing games, doing arts and crafts, spending time outside, going on walks, reading, and coming up with activities that match each child’s interests and personality. I also enjoy incorporating learning into play whenever possible. Most of all, I love getting to know each child individually, being silly and having fun with them, while also making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part of being a nanny is making sure the children in my care are always safe while also making them feel loved, supported, and happy. I want children to feel comfortable being themselves around me and to know that they are cared for. While having fun and creating great memories is important, their safety and well-being will always come first. My goal is to create an environment where children feel secure, valued, and excited to spend time together.

My experience with special needs children...

I don’t have a ton of one-on-one experience working specifically with children with special needs, but I do have experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in childcare settings. Through those experiences, I’ve learned the importance of being patient, flexible, and attentive to each child’s individual needs and communication style. I’m always open to learning more and working closely with families to understand how I can best support their child and help them feel safe, comfortable, and included.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nannying moments was watching a child I cared for become excited about something we had been practicing and learning together. Seeing their confidence grow and getting to celebrate those little accomplishments with them was really special to me. I love that nannying allows me to build a close relationship with a child, learn their personality, and be there for both the fun moments and the everyday milestones. Those are the moments that make working with children so rewarding for me.
