A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Katie Riley, I am 23 years old, and have lived in Wilmington for the past five years. I graduated from UNCW in May 2024 with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, and I hold a Birth-Kindergarten (B-K) teaching license, which qualifies me to teach in North Carolina public schools. I am also certified in infant, child, and adult CPR. My passion for working with children started at a young age, and I truly enjoy building strong relationships with the kids and their families to better support their individual needs.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I babysat throughout middle and high school, and continued to build my experience by nannying for two families during college. As a nanny, I provided in-home care including meal preparation, planning engaging activities, and light housekeeping such as tidying toys and washing dishes. I also took children to extracurricular activities like karate, daily summer camps, and outings to places like the aquarium, the park, and local libraries. After graduation, I started working in a childcare center with one-year-olds, providing nurturing care and supporting their early learning.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing arts and crafts activities using natural materials, for example going on a nature walk to collect leaves, sticks, flowers, etc. and then using those materials to create art.
I enjoy going on outings to places like the aquarium, parks, libraries, etc. so the children can learn through exploring the world.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is building a genuine connection with the children and families you work with. By building a strong connection and truly knowing the family, you can better support them and their child's specific needs.

My favorite moment as a nanny was when the one-year-old I was working with said my name for the first time!

Liz S. - Seeking Work in Wilmington

Full-Time Nanny Available in Wilmington, NC: Liz S.

Hi I am Liz S. I have 3 children 15, 11, and 9. I graduated in 2000 with a BA in Psychology from University of North Carolina at Wilmington. We are currently in the process of moving to Wilmington or a surrounding area. I used to do a lot of babysitting after college just to make extra money. I did a lot for daily/ sleep over type jobs. I was a stay at home mom for many years. Then I worked at St. John's Pre-school in Fayetteville as a substitute teacher mostly in the 2's. I was there almost every day. I was in all the classrooms from Infant to 4-year-olds. They were so happy with me I was hired for the next year as a Teacher Assistant for the 3-year-old class. Then Covid happened and I had to stay home with my children. I was CPR/First Aid/AED certified. It went out last year. I have to do recertification but that will be done before I start a job. I have just started to use care. com and have had the opportunity to work with 4 families. Let me know if you have any questions.
