Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love planning both indoor and outdoor activities for the kids I work with, and always ensure they are tailored to the age and interests of the child. In the past, I've set up outdoor activities like scavenger hunts, nature walks, backyard games, and trips to the park and library. Some indoor activities I love are reading books, cooking and baking simple things that the kids can help out with, planting seeds and watching them grow, and making sensory bins. I also keep a massive bin of craft supplies on standby, and love to set up crafts!
My experience with special needs children...
In the past, I've worked with children who have autism, down syndrome, developmental delays, oppositional defiance disorder, learning disabilities, and ADHD.
The most important part about being a nanny...
During the first couple weeks of COVID online school, I was caring for seven year old girl who was having a hard time adjusting to the change. To cheer her up, I planned a clue hunt around the neighbourhood with a prize at the end, writing riddles on index cards and planting them at the library, the park, the community garden, etc. My favourite nanny moment was watching her face light up as she found and read each clue, eager to decode it and skip off to find the next one.
