A little bit about me

I have always had a passion and interest in working with children, particularly young children between the ages of 2-10. I started off as a Sunday School Teacher, moved onto babysitting and tutoring in private residences. I was also a one on one aide for children with autism, teaching communication and social skills. In addition, I worked as a Resident Assistant at an arts summer camp for pre-teens. Since moving to New York, I have provided child care services to different families and within those roles, engaged children in arts and craft projects, read stories, played educational games, went on walks to the park, museums, play dates, and various other activities, as well as prepared snacks and meals.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at Manhattan Kids Club III for 2 years and started off as a floater, then was the Assistant Teacher in the Kanga class, where I was responsible for engaging with the 3-4 year olds to promote an educational and fun classroom experience, including leading Circle Time, supervising art and cooking projects, directing free play, and reading books. I helped create fun and interactive learning projects, as well as observed and reported on child development and conduct. While teaching, I strived to anticipate the needs of each child and treat him/her with patience, kindness, and love. I also aided in maintaining an organized and structured environment to promote learning.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Working with children gives me a sense of pure joy and purpose. I love the wide-eyed curiosity that young children possess. Being so young, children are easily influenced and need role models who give them the right amount of understanding and discipline. I am able to relate to children sensitively and cater to each child’s individual needs by listening and observing them with a critical eye. I also believe that the quality of education a child receives in early life is indispensable in bringing out that child’s potential, and that all children should have access to quality learning and care, which I can help provide. My overall goal is to help mold lifelong learners who grow up to be happy, well adjusted and kind to others.
