A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Katie. I recently worked at a daycare in their infant room for 2 and a half years and just relocated to Los Angeles from Kansas. I love spending time with kids and learn so much from them. Babysitting has been a source of income (and happiness) for me since I was 15 and I have grown to really enjoy one-on-one care because of the bond it allows you to create with families. I play guitar, ukulele, and piano and love incorporating music into playtime. I also love to travel and be in nature. I have volunteered at theatre camps at my hometown theatre with kids age 6-12. I also volunteered at a summer camp where I worked outdoors with kids age 6-9 during the day for multiple weeks. I volunteered at my dance studios summer camp as well.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy going to the park or on walks, really anything outside when the weather is nice! Indoors, I love drawing, singing, and playing board games. For younger kiddos, I love playing with sensory toys like water tables or stacking rings.

What matters most to me is providing love and support to kids, because it fosters confidence and security in them that they can achieve anything.

My experience with special needs children...

I babysat for a family that had 3 daughters, one of them being a 3 year old with special needs. She attended the daycare I worked at so I worked with her in the classroom too!

The most important part about being a nanny...

One memorable moment I think of often was when I was babysitting for a family with multiple kiddos, and the oldest one was a bit shy. She loved to draw so I suggested we do an activity that I loved when I was in art class as a kid. While we were drawing she really came out of her shell and when we finished the activity, she wanted to do it again! Before I helped her get ready for bed she wanted help putting one of our drawings on the fridge, and she said the other one was for me. I still have the drawing; it reminds me to always meet kids on their level and find different ways to connect with them.
