More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
my most consistent nannying job has been nannying summers for the past few years for two wonderful kids of a ABA therapist from the WEAP clinic I would volunteer at (a boy who is now 3 and a girl who is now 5, and they are both wonderful and I love the whole family very much!). for those summers I would work 8-2 Monday-Friday all summer and occasionally do nights
Being the oldest of two sisters and having a mom with a chronic illness. I took a lot of pride in myself for being a responsible role model for my siblings. Since my youngest sister is 9 years younger then I, I feel very maternal towards her and definitely viewed as a (fun and kind but firm) authority figure by both siblings and I think that that positively translates into my nannying.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
things I love:
- going outside to parks, art + history museums, zoos, and libraries
- doing arts and crafts or building with legos/blocks
- doing weekly science experiments and cooking/baking activities (sometimes its fun to get a little messy)
-reading out loud and having the kids "help" with my reading
- I can definitely get in touch with my inner child and play story-telling games or make believe
- doing kid friendly yoga

The most important part about being a nanny...
having a genuine friendship with the child. I want everyone to feel comfortable and safe with me and be excited to spend time together.
My experience with special needs children...
when I was 14 I volunteered for a couple years at LEARN, previously known as Wisconsin Early Autism Clinic (WEAP). where I volunteered to work in the baby program and was trained by in-line therapists to work with younger siblings (infant-toddler) of older siblings who were diagnosed on the autism spectrum and worked one-on-one with the younger siblings to observe there behavior both around their old siblings or separately. I did this most consistently from [phone number hidden] but when I had the time would then volunteer on and off for a number of years.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love when kids get comfortable enough to really show there personality and silly side! from wearing underwear on their head to using goofy voices/ accents with each other I love building a friendship.
one memory that sticks out is when the 5 your old girl I used to nanny for... lets call her Grace had an entire day of being fascinated by the idea of pranks. Grace spent the rest of the day pulling rather unsuccessful "pranks" on her brother and I. This days activities including lots of berry picking and princess/pirate dress up and at the end of the day her skin was stained from berry juice and since she had been running around in her red princess dress up dress was covered in red lint. Once her mom came home she approached us concerned on why her daughter was all red and Grace wailed "I have a RASH!!!" her mother and I both looked horrified and then Grace burst into giggles so hard she fell off her swing and triumphantly announced that she prank everybody!!
