I was a manager at a daycare in the town I currently reside in until the business closed due to insufficient funding. I took care of 5 or more children at a time and provided a daily schedule for them. Including staff.

I enjoy having children participate in complete enrichment activities such as; going on walks, preparing food together, sensory based activities, and reading/ writing activities.

The most important part about being a nanny is to always respect the parents and get to know the parents and what their expectations are for their children. I also think communication is EVERYTHING. Patience and kindness are also essential when nannying and in everyday life. Being passionate about your job is also very important. I love my job and the family I currently work for, and I cannot wait to meet yours.
My experience with special needs children...
I currently am caring for a child with special needs. I have worked with her since she was 6 months of age. She is now 2.5 years old. She was the motivation behind me achieving my masters degree in Occupational Therapy. I have worked with the child daily with flashcards, PECS Boards, Sensory Activities, Sign Language, and helping her gain independence when displaying day to day activities. She has improved immensely and parents I am currently employed by are very pleased by the progress.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment(s) are when I get to say good morning to the children as they wake up. I enjoy taking the child to school every morning and being able provide a morning snack on our morning walk there. One of my very special moments would be when I helped the special needs child sign the word “more” as she was eating. That was a big breakthrough for all of us. I was so proud of her.
