Hi! i’m Kayla, i’m a 17 year old about to be 18! I love to cook and nature/adventures. I have a high school diploma and have always been involved and around kids my whole life, I love children and have lots of experiences, children usually seem to love and connect with me. I always want to make sure they feel safe and comfortable as well as listened to and understood. I do have endometriosis as i cannot have my own children i take the opportunity to love other peoples as my own. My main experience with children other than family, was my mother she was a teacher most her life and nanny, I use to help her everyday at her daycare, as well as later gators which was a after school program. I babysat two little boys, (1-3) for 4 1/2 years with my mom as she had a remote job. i inspire to teach children how to handle positive emotions as well as positive problem solving. Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I have always loved doing outdoor activities, included picnics, parks, swimming and other actives like botanical gardens and the Perot museum. I think it's important for children to engage in nature/outdoors and hands on experiences. I also love to do creative indoor actives like play dough, fort building, movies and snacks, reading books/telling stories, pretend games like dolls/toys or make believe games, especially coloring/coloring books as its one of my own hobbies. I'm always open to get to know what your children's interests and hobbies are to make sure we are always working around what they like to do to insure a fun environment for them.

My experience with special needs children...

One of the two little boys I babysat, that I mentioned on my profile, was apart of the spectrum as he had behavioral issues, a speech disability, and other issues. He was in therapy in his school he was attending, which also further helped him as he got older to grow out of and overcome some of his struggles. It was always important to be patient and clam in high and low moments. To be very understanding to his overstimulation and I would always try my best to find alternatives and distractions for him to take his mind off of why he was upset, so we could talk about it later on in the day when the situation and emotion had calmed down. I thinks is important to never get frustrated to understand the situation through the children's eyes and not your own. My brother in law who is 9 now has DMDD which is a disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, he has always came to me for the past 4 years when he is having super high moments as he says I am someone he trusts and who can understand him.
