She was always on time, always going the extra mile. We never asked for her to clean, but she always made sure our house was taken care of when we came home. We were incredibly sad to see her go."

I was a nanny throughout college for a family with a special needs toddler and an infant and a dog. I ran and worked in daycares for a church that I used to attend. I also raised my younger siblings.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Helping out the entire family. This job isn’t just about the kids, it’s about the parents too. Families get nannies over babysitters to be able to form a relationship with the person and trust them with their little family members and home. I enjoy being a nanny, because while I am helping the little ones get through their day, I am also helping the parents get what they need done without having to worry about their children.
My experience with special needs children...
My previous family had a non-verbal, autistic toddler, who was my little bestie. As well as during highschool I volunteered in our school districts special needs classrooms!
The most important part about being a nanny...
When I got to witness the baby of my last family take her first steps (along side mom, who had just barely returned from work). Getting to watch her grow was one of the highlights of my career and I’m so glad I got to witness it with her mother.
