A little bit about me

Hello! I am a mom of two school aged children, ages 5 and 10. I am a member of the IBEW as a telecommunications apprentice and during my off-season, volunteer at Calypso Farms as a Farm Field Guide for school aged children and serve on the board for Calypso. I have a fiance who owns a video production company that I sometimes work for and was recently credited in a film as a Field Producer. I am an adventurous person with two dogs, a husky and a malemute puppy. I like to climb mountains on a split board with my partner and husky, have been teaching my kiddos how to snowboard (and do so myself), paint and play guitar, love reading and gardening, take stills photos for my partners video production company and am First Aid/CPR certified. I have experience being a stay at home mom, a homeschool mom, and as a babysitter and nanny for friends. I love working with children of all ages and nurturing their growth and sense of wonder and adventure!

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have and am currently volunteering at a local non profit called Calypso Farm and Ecology center as a Farm Field Guide. I help guide field trips for school-aged children through exploration of nature through all their senses.

Arts and crafts, outdoor play, sensory play, musical exploration and dance, yoga, and age appropriate learning activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

However cliche it may sound, children are our future. We as parents and caregivers have the opportunity to shape minds and nurture them so that they can grow up to be happy, healthy and whole, and be happy, and whole throughout their entire lives. Children are naturally creative and have empathy and kindness. The most important part of being a nanny and a mom is fostering children’s creativity, a sense of wonder, exploration, healthy and safe learning environments, and kindness towards oneself and others. :)

My experience with special needs children...

I have a sister who has special needs and have worked at the local school district as a special education clerk. I have also worked as a substitute, mainly in special education classrooms.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was when I was nannying for a friend of mine in Portland, Oregon. We went OMSI and the Portland zoo and explored and discussed so many fun science topics and animals. The laughter and the sense of wonder all three kiddos experienced that day still strikes me as one of the most important times of my work as a nanny and caregiver.
