More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Although I do not have professional experience, I do have 7 years of experience in caring for 3 separate children, starting from birth. I have one nephew who is 8 and two nieces both 3 years old. I spent every week with my nephew from birth until I moved up to Washington and built a bond unlike any other. I may be his favorite aunt! When my first niece was born, before she was old enough to go to daycare, I would take care of her every week on my days off work. I did the same with my second niece after she was born. I was everyone's weekly nanny!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I would take them to the park and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. I took my nephew to the beach for the first time and for walks. I enjoyed taking my niece for nature walks/mild hikes even if she did sleep the majority of the time. I love the outdoors whenever the weather permits (sometimes hard in the PNW when it rains so much!). We also enjoyed cooking or baking together, I like to show them the skills I have learned in my many years of cooking. Might as well pass it on!
The most important part about being a nanny...
being compassionate, trustworthy, and most of all patient.
My experience with special needs children...
In the last year, my family became aware of a heart condition my nephew has. Now that we know this whenever I am back home and watching him, I have to make sure I stay aware of his heart rate and not do any activities that are too strenuous on his heart such. It can be challenging because he is an 8-year-old boy with a lot of crazy energy but at the same time, he really enjoys science and legos so it makes it easier to find activities that he can do and enjoy.
The most important part about being a nanny...
there are way too many to fit in this box but I have just enjoyed being there for their "firsts" and being able to watch them grow and learn. Seeing them become their own individual selves with personalities has been such a wonderful experience.

Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Bainbridge Island, WA: Leah H.
Hello, a little about me...I am originally from Texas and moved here for school. I have a huge love for Washington after living here with family as a teen. I am a recent University of Washington Graduate. I majored in Biology with a focus on Marine Science. Also, I have a minor in Psychology. I volunteer with wildlife rescues and species/watee qualitt monitoring. My goal is to do wildlife rehabilitation and conservation after Grad School. I have been lucky enough to travel quite a bit in my 28 years. I try to live a pretty active lifestyle while still dedicating much of my time to my amazing pets. I have been a babysitter from a young teen when I started by assisting my older sister with her jobs. We started off watching neighbors kids and eventually I created my own path of nannying. I have experience with nannying premature infants all the way up to mid teens. I enjoy being able to share my creativity and excitement for life with those I cross paths with. I have experience with Alzheimer's and pet caregiving as well. I have cpr, first aid, hmfood handling, and quite a few other certifications. Throughout community college and the first seven years of my twenties, I was also involved with event promotions as a full time job. I have open availability and am hoping to find a full time nanny position, but also open to part time. I am only fluent in English, but have some familiarity with Spanish and a few other languages. I am an open book and would love to answer any questions you may have.
