A little bit about me

I’m 18 in desperate need of solid housing. I’ve been babysitting my niece (7) and nephew (3) since they were born, times ranging from 1 hour to a couple of days. I’ve also babysat my friends siblings (9 and 4). I may not have any professional experience but I have such a great love for kids. I enjoy teaching them and learning from them as well. I do well with helping kids understand why things happen and can help them with processing feelings. Something I always tell my niece and nephew is, “You just have little body with big feelings and that’s okay”. I’m willing to bake, cook, clean, practically anything. Not just for the kiddos but for the rest of the family as well. I can care for pets if needed.

I love hand-on activities such as baking, “science experiments”, artsy crafts, and others like reading to them, coloring, playing make believe and just participating in anything they’re interested in.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is being open to understanding what the kids are going through. You have to take a step back and remember that they’re younger and don’t know what you know. They’re navigating this new world and all these new feelings and sometimes it can get overwhelming for them.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a few friends with autistic siblings that i’ve helped look after. With the JROTC I’ve volunteered for “Night to Shine” and the “Special Olympics bowling” event.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I spent 3 days looking after my niece and nephew. We baked, made slime, sang together and danced in the kitchen, built a fort and watched movies. It was the best weekend of my life I think.
