A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Kenya, and I bring over a decade of experience in childcare, including five years as a bilingual preschool teacher. For the past two years, I’ve had the joy of working as a full-time nanny for a wonderful family whose youngest is now heading off to school. I’m now looking for a new opportunity to support a family through compassionate, engaging, and developmentally thoughtful care. Building strong, trusting relationships with both children and parents is at the heart of my approach.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Over the past decade, I’ve worked in a variety of childcare settings that have shaped my creative and nature-centered approach to caregiving. I spent several years teaching at two Spanish immersion preschools, where I supported bilingual language development through play-based learning. I also worked at a Reggio Emilia/Montessori-inspired in-home center, where I helped nurture children’s independence, creativity, and connection to the natural world. For the past four years, I’ve been a full-time nanny, incorporating art, outdoor exploration, and gentle structure into each child’s day.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love creating space for children to express themselves through open-ended art projects, nature-based play, and imagination. I incorporate Spanish language learning in playful, organic ways through songs, conversation, and storytelling. I’m a big believer in child-led exploration, and I enjoy spending time outdoors.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part of being a caregiver is creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel happy, secure, and free to be themselves. Building trust, offering consistency, and showing up with genuine care each day helps children thrive and that’s always my top priority.

My experience with special needs children...

In my previous classroom roles, I’ve had the privilege of working with several children on the autism spectrum. These experiences deepened my understanding of neurodiverse communication, sensory needs, and the importance of patience, empathy, and consistency. I’ve also provided care for a young adult with physical disabilities, supporting daily routines and fostering independence with respect and compassion.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I’ve shared so many special moments with the children I care for, but one of my favorites was taking them rollerskating for the first time. Watching their confidence grow as they learned to skate, and joining in the fun myself was a joyful, bonding experience.

I’ve also been fortunate to bring along my gentle dog, Dali, to work on occasion. His calm presence has had a noticeable, positive impact helping the children feel more comfortable around animals and offering a quiet, therapeutic companionship.

Hi!
My name is Amanda but I tend to go by Mandi. I just had a beautiful baby girl named Mila, she is 3 months old. I’m wanting to start working again, but I’m in need of a job I can bring her along with me to. I absolutely adore babies, toddlers, children. I’ve never professionally been a baby sitter, but I’ve baby sat multiple times growing up and in teenagehood. I also have experience with children with extra needs such as autism, and cerebral palsy.
I personally love the idea of incorporating montessori style learning into daily life. Its important for children to have fun, but also learn at the same time.
