More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I babysat for two families consistently during 2020 and 2021. I helped them with online school, kept them entertained, fed them meals, and more. I babysat either 2 or 4 kids depending on if it was just one family or both. I also was a camp counselor at Morehead Planetarium for a summer where I worked with 4th graders and taught them various scientific subjects. Taking care of 15 kids with one other person definitely gave me experience in childcare, conflict resolution, and creative thinking.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to go biking, go on walks to nearby playgrounds or parks and be outside in general. I also like doing various arts and crafts with them. I mostly like doing whatever a kid is most interested it whether that be legos or drawing or catching fish in a nearby stream. My main goal is to keep them off electronics and interested in an activity.
My experience with special needs children...
During my time as a camp counselor, I have various students with special needs. Most commonly autism. I learned that these children might need to have a schedule explained or visually shown to them. I learned to give these kids a bit of extra attention to ensure they were feeling comfortable with all the activities/other children. Also I learned that every kid with autism is different and you have to adapt to their various needs.
