More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I cared for other children as well as my own during summers when I was home including twin infants. I had planned activities as well because I had learning centers at school. The children learn so much more being engaged in activities. I tutored homebound special education students as well as tutoring and caring for other teachers' children during the school breaks and weekends.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love art as I have a minor in art and taught art appreciation in elementary schools. I like doing stem projects as well as hands on cut and paste activities. I enjoy outside walks to parks, helping kids on playground equipment, and being in snow or sun. With my own children, I built snow forts, taught them how to swim and help my grandchildren do the same. I meet up with them at play places like The Treehouse in Lake Zurich. I climb right in with them, stay watchful over them, and engage with them.

My experience with special needs children...
In my 29 years of teaching, my classrooms consisted of both regular and special needs children ranging from developmentally delayed, autistic, Down's Syndrome, traumatic head injuries, Ausberger's, and Tourettes. My minors are in learning disabilities and behavioral disorders. I have a Master's in Curriculum and Education. I am well versed with IEP's and 504s.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love reading books especially the ones with animals and actions. I came over to one home and they opened the door holding their arms like sharks welcoming me in. Another time, we were doing the finger play to the itsy bitsy spider as they were sitting my lap. They played the spider crawling on my arm, and it crawled on my face and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
