"Kerstin began volunteering with Hope on Haven Hill (HHH) in April 2026.
HHH is a treatment and recovery facility for women (pregnant and parenting most often) with a substance use disorder, who are often experiencing homelessness.
Kerstin completed an application and orientation with me to ensure her goals align with our mission. She completed a background check and TB test and references were contacted; all checks stated she is wonderful and nurturing with children. She would volunteer typically 2-3 hours per shift and several shifts per month.
Kerstin supports childcare for infants and toddlers while their parent attends groups treating their substance use disorder. Our clients quickly became familiar with her and felt safe having her care for their children.
Not only did she give us the gift of her time, she also donates treats, like desserts for holidays. Her compassion and service to her communities is incredible and we’re so thankful to have Kerstin in our corner!"

"Kerstin cared for our daughter Ellie during some of the most formative years of her life, and it’s hard to overstate the impact she had on our family.
She brought a rare combination of warmth and structure to every day. Kerstin wasn’t just a nanny, she was a steady, loving presence who showed up as a caregiver, teacher and organizer all at once. She created an environment where Ellie felt safe, supported, and encouraged to grow, while also helping us maintain a sense of order and calm in our home.
During the pandemic, that presence meant even more. We trusted each other completely, and Kerstin led with a level of confidence, responsibility, and care that gave us true peace of mind. She handled challenges with grace, brought consistency to uncertain times, and always prioritized Ellie’s well-being and happiness with thoughtfulness and intention.
Kerstin didn’t just work with our family, she became part of it. Any family would be incredibly lucky to have Kerstin in their lives."

"Kerstin was a wonderful presence in our home during my postpartum. She absolutely loves babies and we had the good fortune to have the same part-time schedule requirements, averaging 10-12 hours a week. Kerstin made it clear I needed to leave chores for her to attend to while our baby napped and was very well organized with her time in caring for our daughter as well as our home. She made a point to bring her out on walks, engage in educational play, even singing to her in French! Our home was always spic and span in her care. She was very respectful in following our wishes and as a first time mom, her recommendations and advice were always appreciated. She was very generous and as an avid traveler, always brought a little gift back from her trips for our daughter. We were so sad to lose her and any family who lands her is fortunate to have their baby in her care."

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important component to childcare is the proper care and nurturing of the child. Keeping an infant safe is critical. It is also important to surround a child with warmth and love and encouragement. I like to incorporate play and song into all activities at these early ages and stages.
My experience with special needs children...
I have no experience working with special needs children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment, fortunately, happens all the time. It's watching Infants and toddlers laugh and smile as they explore their world with my assistance and support- whether they're discovering something in nature, a new food, a new toy or song... I love watching their faces light up and being a part of their growth. I am very demonstrative and warm with children and I thrive when they thrive.
