The most important part about being a nanny is building a bond and a trusting relationship between nanny and child. Get to know your child so that you too, can become family to the child.
My experience with special needs children...
Patience & a little extra attention can go along way. But the feeling of knowing that you can be and do the same things as the ones around you plus more is reassuring. Taking my time to get to know the ins and outs of a special needs child is most important. My experience with a special needs child, started when I learned his temper at clean up time. He wouldn’t clean up after himself, until I made cleaning look fun to him. He loved basketball, so I turned cleaning into a basketball game.
