A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Kiana Welter. I love working with kids, especially infants and toddlers. While I only have the two experiences showing on my profile, I have been working with kids most of my life. (I have 4 younger sisters who I have been helping my mom take care of since I was in my freshman year of high school, which was in 2016.) I recently took a break from school to pursue a new degree, however I was previously pursuing a Child Development degree focusing primarily on Infant/Early Childhood Development. I took several classes over the course of almost two years. I have also done several other babysitting/nannying jobs during high school for family members and friends of my parents and continue to do so, happily :) I am fine working with multiple children of different ages at one time - this includes homeschooling!! I am very skilled working with ages 0-6 years old seeing as that is the majority of where my education/training stems from. I hope to hear from you soon!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Volunteer work in preschool and elementary school settings, nanny for 6 month old baby, 4 siblings growing up that I cared for during my mothers postpartum stages, several babysitting jobs for ages ranging from newborn-12 years old, Girl Scout leader and co-leader for 2 troops with ages 4-12 and 14-17.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I would love to be able to take the children to museums, parks, exploring and on adventures. I remember growing up how big of an impact going on these little "adventures" with my mom made and how it made me and my siblings more curious and adventurous. We learned so much.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I feel as though the most important part of being a nanny is providing a safe, engaging, fun and interactive environment for children of any and all ages to grow and explore. Providing them a safe place to grow and become who they're meant to be.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked with several special needs students in high school as a TA. I have experience working with children with Autism and severe ADHD.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I can't even begin to explain the amount of pride I felt when I saw the baby that I had been taken care of was beginning to use the sign language I had been teaching him. When he first came to me he had limited motor skills and all he knew how to do was cry and scream, but over the course of just 2 months he began signing to us the things he needed. It made me not only proud of him because he was learning and advancing, growing. But it also made me proud of my own skills because it showed my hard work paying off. I loved the baby as if he was my own, so it made the accomplishment just that more intense.
