More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been a Nanny for 10+ years, specialize in caring for special needs children. I am 1 of 12 children and 7 of my siblings are adopted. I have had 2 long term Nanny Families. The 1st (5 YEARS) was a family of 8 children ages 14 days (twins)-15 years old. Their daughter had Smith Magenis Syndrome and their twins were born premature. The 2nd family (5 years) had twin boys who were born at 26 weeks. They had hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, and vision impairment. Between both families I have knowledge in physical, occupational, vision, speech therapy, and horseback riding rehabilitation. I am knowledgeable in feeding tubes, special feeding habits, speech devices, wheelchair/stander/gait trainer maintenance and adjustments, AFOs, Botox/Ethanol injections with serial castings, shunt aware, and bathing/potty training. I am capable of coordinating and attending medical appointments for multiple children.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy playing outside, swimming, having picnics, listening and singing music, creating short stories, cooking and baking, going to museums, taking trips to different parks, and exploring every part of their creative imagination!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing to a nanny should be trust. The children and parents both have to trust a nanny in order for there to be joy, love, and peace in a household.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, vision impaired, Smith Magenis Syndrome, ADHD, and Speech Impared. I have extensive knowledge in wheelchairs/standers/gait trainer maintenance and adjustments, bathing, potty training/ changing, transfer between devices or bed, specialty diets, AFOs, Botox/Ethanol Injections and serial castings, and am able to communicate/schedule/attend doctors appointments. I have built relationships with a plethora of therapist (physical therapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, and horseback rehabilitation). I am involved with activities at Siskin Early Learning Center and Signal Centers.
The most important part about being a nanny...
In my last nanny family I had twin boys. I had been with them since they had come home from the hospital. Well one of the boys had cerebral palsy and he was nonverbal. We had built the strongest bond that a nanny could have with a child. I taught him so many things but my 2 favorite things were to say "I love you" and to kiss my cheek. He would only do those things to me but he would let everyone else tell him and kiss him. I'll never forget the 1st time he finally said my name (Kiki). When he realized he said it he just laughed and laughed and laughed! I love that sweet boy!

Hello! I have been babysitting/nannying for 10 years now. With my most recent role as a substitute teacher, I have experience and confidence in caring for children ages 3-15. I have lots of nieces and nephews that I helped care for as newborns. I do have a passion for helping children and caring for them during summer when they are out of school and parents are working.
I'd describe my personality as funny, empathetic, fun.
I started working with kids when I was 15 years old, I started babysitting a 1 and 4-year-old up until they were in 3rd and 5th grade.
In my spare time, I like to go hiking, camping, rock climbing. Anything outdoors is a fun day for me!

Hello! My name is Shayla, I have a beautiful 1.5 year old daughter and we come as a package deal; meaning your kids get a great nanny and they also get a friend who loves and adores other children (and pets too). Prior to having my daughter I was a nanny ro multiple different children over a period of 8 years. I love and cherish each one of those different bonds that were created with them. That being said; we are new here to Tennessee, and we look forward to great adventures with a new family!
