A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Kimberly! In a few weeks, I will be a graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Psychology. Upon graduation in May, I am returning to my roots and permanently moving back to the East Coast!

My passion for caring for children has lead me in the direction to pursue nannying as my career. I provide an exceptionally safe environment for all of the families I care for. I create developmentally-appropriate activities for children, and help them reach their social and academic milestones.

I find joy in building a trusting and nurturing relationship with the children that I nanny for. I take pride in being a nanny who is an effective listener, communicator, and who demonstrates kindness and patience.

During my free time, I am at the gym, running outside, traveling, reading, swimming at the Jersey Shore, trying local restaurants, and solving puzzles.

In addition to all safety certifications, I am a conversational French speaker and proficient in Microsoft Office.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at the LifeTime Athletic Kids Academy, where I ran group classes and coordinated birthday parties and activities. I cared for infants and children between the ages of twelve weeks to twelve years old. Most importantly, a safe environment was maintained and all preliminary safety certifications were obtained.

In high school, I spent a year working inside of our regional school's preschool. As individuals and within group, we planned developmentally age-appropriate activities, lessons, crafts, and games. We maintained a safe and welcoming environment for all local families.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am very active, so I love to do anything outdoors or that involves moving! Going to the park, swimming, playing soccer, tag, and hide-and-seek are some of my favorites.

With children that I nanny, I also love to follow age-appropriate recipes, solve puzzles, complete crafts (painting, coloring, chalk, and molding clay are some of my favorites!), play Pictionary, and go on scavenger hunts.

I love to read, so sharing that passion with the children that I care for is incredibly important to me. I am a regular at the public library, and I enjoy taking children to events at the local libraries to meet new friends and explore the community.

A practice that I recently started with children is following a yoga video together. This is a great way to build confidence and learn about the benefits of exercise at a young age.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are so many important pieces of the puzzle that creates an amazing nanny. For me, the most important aspect is ensuring that the children are safe while they are with me.

The children will be physically safe from any harm, and I also want the children to feel comfortable and safe around me.

Important parts of being a nanny also include being kind, patient, and responsible. I communicate with parents and members of the family to ensure that we are all on the same page. Being organized and punctual are very important parts of being a professional nanny; I handle my responsibilities and other people’s time with great respect.

My experience with special needs children...

I have three years of experience working with children who are on the autism spectrum. I was a nanny for a family with two children who had special needs. I developed an excellent relationship with the family and they taught me very valuable skills pertaining to the care of their children. Additionally, I transported the children to various therapy appointments and have seen them develop their social and academic goals.

I also worked as a coach for a soccer program that was designed for children with special needs. As a coach, I helped children practice the game of soccer and work together as a team. At the end of the season, my colleagues and I organized a party for the participants and their families.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are so many! My all-time favorite has to be when the two girls that I nanny for (ages three and five) were sitting in my car and we were driving on the way home from school.

Upon asking questions about their school day and what they had learned, we started talking about family and what encompasses a familial unit.

I look in the rear-view mirror and I see two beaming smiles, and the five-year-old states with confidence, "Miss Kimmy, you're like our second mom. You're family to us!"

The three-year-old jumped in and said, "We love you like family Miss Kimmy!"

I had a huge smile from ear-to-ear; I was an effective and trusted figure in the girls' lives. They could sense and know that I took my responsibility of being their caregiver with the upmost respect and they could trust me. That was an amazing moment in my career, and there are countless other precious moments, too.
