The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe emotional environment where a child feels comfortable coming to me when something is wrong. Childcare isn’t just about supervision, it’s about trust.
I focus on building that trust through consistency, patience, and genuine connection. When children know that I respond calmly, listen without interrupting, and take their feelings seriously, they begin to feel secure. I make it a point to validate their emotions rather than dismiss them, even if the problem seems small. To a child, their feelings are real and important.
I also communicate at their level using open-ended questions, maintaining eye contact, and giving them my full attention. When children feel heard instead of corrected or judged, they’re much more likely to open up.
Above all, I want the children in my care to know that they are safe with me that they can express themselves honestly, and I will always approach their concerns with understanding and support.

My experience with special needs children...
I have experience working with children with various mental and developmental differences, including anger issues, BPD, schizophrenia, and autism, through my role as an afterschool teacher. In this position, I provided patient, compassionate, and tailored support, helping each child feel safe, understood, and engaged. I worked on creating structured routines, positive reinforcement strategies, and individualized attention to meet each child’s unique needs while fostering growth and confidence.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when I was working as a summer camp counselor. After a long, busy day of playing and activities, one little girl asked if she could sit with me on the bus ride home. She felt so comfortable and safe that she ended up falling asleep in my arms. It was such a sweet, rewarding moment that reminded me why I love working with children.
