The most important thing about being a nanny is to commit to doing what is best for the children at all times, and doing everything for them from a place of love. Children are so sensitive to the small energies that we convey in the way we talk, act, and speak. When we do things from love, they can feel it, and tend to be more responsive and generally happier.
My experience with special needs children...
My cousin has special needs, and I have taken care of her several times. In her case, I needed to take her to the bathroom, engage her in activities she liked, calm her down if she got highly emotional, and generally keep a very close eye on her.

When I would take care of the children at my friend’s mom’s daycare, they used to make things for me at school, like cards or drawings. It was always so touching to me that they thought of me so often. I still have the cards and drawings they made for me.
