More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My experience with child care lies mainly in part and full-time nannying. Prior to moving back to the East Coast, I cared for a 9 month old baby boy and his 2.5 year old brother (8 hours a day, 4 days a week). When I lived in DC from [phone number hidden] I consistently rotated between 3 families of children ranging from 3 months to 13 years. Responsibilities included coordinating car pool schedules with neighboring families, transport to after school activities, and occasional tutoring and household maintenance (dishes, laundry, pet care) when needed.
In 2017 I volunteered as a TA through Montgomery County public schools in Maryland, assisting students with social anxiety and hearing impairment.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I prefer to let children lead social activities in order to build leadership skills and encourage creative thinking.
Some of my personal favorite outings include museums, craft fairs and group hikes / bike rides. I encourage kids to be physically active and get as much “outside time” as possible before winding down.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Understanding that kids, no matter how young, have their own personalities that cannot (and should not) be changed. As adults, we should use our influence to improve a kids outlook on life without compromising who they are as a person.
My experience with special needs children...
As mentioned above, I’ve worked part time with children navigating life with social anxiety and hearing impairment. My approach is to encourage them to challenge themselves by exposing them to their triggers in familiar, low pressure environments to wean their fears and build confidence with assurance that they can always “opt out” if needed.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My mother founded a Fossil Education Program to provide in-classroom field trips for K-12 students studying the Chesapeake Bay watershed as a part of their Earth Science curriculum. Throughout the day, she and I would cycle through 2-3 classes (25-30 students each) and provide students with solo cups of beach rubble sifted with Miocene Epoch fossils from the Calvert Cliffs (collected by my family over decades). We would educate the students on the history of the Chesapeake ecosystems and how the fossils they'll soon find came to be. I never missed an opportunity to assist my mom and witness kids realize their love of fossils for the first time.
