More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am currently a Teaching Aid with JumpCo Atlanta, where I manage a classroom of 20 children. We focus on age-appropriate, educational activities that promote independence, tactile learning, and educational exploration. I have been in childcare since I was 16, providing care for children aged 1-12. I also tutor elementary, middle, and high school-aged children in all subject matters. I was a youth cheerleading volunteer for four years, and gained a love for working with children to aid in their development.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy various activities with children including reading, music, painting, knitting, age-appropriate science experiments, and nature exploration. I am an avid reader and have found that children exposed to literature early on, tend to perform better academically. I have been knitting for years, a skill that is helpful for tactile learning and development. I am also a scientist, so I have tons of experiments that I do with the children I care for to further develop interests in STEM-related fields.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny in my opinion is adaptability. No one kid is the same, not even siblings. They each have unique goals, fears, and personalities. I think being able to adapt to different environments is important for being the best caregiver you can be. Knowing how to identify what a child needs, and be able to provide that is incredibly important for their development.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nannying moment happened a few years ago when I had just turned 18. I'd been nannying a little girl throughout the summer and at the end of the summer when I was getting ready to go back to school, she drew me a picture. The picture was of the two of us, in lab coats, signifying the experiments we'd done over the summer. Her parents still send me updates, and she recently just won second place at her school science fair. This meant so much to me because I know that I helped develop her interest in science into a passion. Knowing that I could be a friend, caretaker, and mentor was so special, and that picture showed me just how much I'd helped her.
