A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Kylee Thompson :) I am a Psychology/Social Work graduate of Slippery Rock University. Currently, I work through Lifesteps Early Head Start in Beaver PA, as a home visitor/family educator, working with kiddos from 0-4 years old - as well as pregnant moms. I love my job and the babies, but I feel settling with 1-2 families rather than my 12 family, 14 kiddo caseload would be less stressful! 😝

I am the oldest of 4; all younger sisters of the ages 17, 6, and 4. I have continuously been the go to baby sitter for all of my family members, I am the oldest of all my cousins as well. I am really easy going and love to be out and about - but also love staying in and watching movies, playing games/doing crafts. I have been working with children with high trauma since senior year of college, to working in the field of Autism, to having visits with babies and keeping up on their developmental needs. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a mentor ("big sister") of a 12 year old through Cray in New Castle. (2 years)
- I worked prior in a 30 day program at Mars Home for Youth with children with mental health disorders, ages 8-17. (2 years)
- I’ve worked at the Watson Institute where my classroom are within the ages of 11-17. (1 year)
- I currently work through Early Headstart, going in homes for visits with babies ages 0-4. (ongoing, 6 months in)
- Lastly, i’ve been the go to babysitter of the family since i was 14 (and i come from a biiiiiiig family😝)! (10 years & counting)

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked at the Watson Institute for a year and an half and I really enjoyed it. I have found so many different ways to communicate/have fun with the kids.

I have babysat for my mom’s friend whose daughter has down’s syndrome. It went really well and she was younger at the time so we we weren’t able to do too much.
