Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoors, I love doing puzzles or building train sets with kids. I also enjoy setting up sensory play opportunities, if the equipment/materials are available. Reading books in a calm moment is also always enjoyable, as is setting up a short, kid-friendly yoga session.
Outdoors, I love helping kids explore the natural world through leaf collecting and similar simple activities. I try to share as many fun nature facts as I can recall, especially if we’re on a walk. I also love helping kids learn basic sports skills, learning games like tag and "Simon Says", etc. Anything that gets kids active is a win, in my book!

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is simply to be engaged with children and to model emotional regulation for them so that they can learn through your consistent example.
My experience with special needs children...
I have limited experience with special needs children. However, I am open to working with special needs children if the family and I both feel that I am the right fit for the job!
I do already have a basic understanding of ADHD and some types of sensory sensitivities as well as sensory-seeking. I’m happy to be educated on other special needs topics that may come up, if needed.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments is seeing my son and the child that I nanny greet each other in the morning when my son and I arrive at the nanny client’s home. It always amazes me how quickly toddlers build friendships with one another. They can be rowdy at times, but they are also so sweet and naturally affectionate.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Portland, OR: Karly D.
Hello! My name is Karly and I am looking for a job as a nanny for the summer, could be longer if needed. I come from a big family and am an aunt to 11 nieces and nephews. My experience comes from my time helping nanny multiple of my nephews. Between 2019 and 2020 and Nani full-time for my nephew. I was also a nanny between 2017 and 2019, where I was a nanny for a toddler under two years old and a 10 year-old. In that role, I helped tidy the house, and take care of the children, and always made sure to take care for the children to my best ability. When I left that role in one of the comments, my prior boss said was “ the best thing about having you here as a nanny is that you truly cared about our kids.” I come from a career in law-enforcement that has recently come to a close due to being laid off. I’m looking to getting back into becoming a nanny because I coming off a hard job and would like a job that brings me joy.
