More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked as a paraprofessional for special needs students ages pre K through fourth grade for four years. I have worked as a childcare associate for a daycare for five years prior. Alongside my jobs I have watched all of my nieces and nephews and baby sat other non blood related children since high school. I have choreographed and taught acting for a summer theater camp for ages 9 through 15 for three summers.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy outdoor playtime very much. That includes backyard and front yard play (swimming pool, sprinklers, bubbles, tag etc). Also swing sets and playgrounds. Making and bringing lunch to have outside as a picnic is also very fun. Indoor activities I enjoy are making art, reading, safe indoor activity such as playing house etc., making crafts, bored games, and helping with any chore or cleaning up as well. I can also incorporate learning and play based learning activities. That can include doing the calendar, discussing the weather, numbers, discussing feelings and stories, homework if there is homework, puzzles, blocks etc. I love using my imagination and instilling creativity into any task I can. I love to write and put on little plays, playing instruments, singing, and dancing.
The most important part about being a nanny...
What matters to me the most firstly of course is safety, physical and mental. Making sure the time spent with me is filled with care, fun, safety, and the opportunity to learn something new each day.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for several special needs students throughout my career as a paraprofessional. Mostly pre K and kindergarten ages for my one on one students but I have also worked as a classroom aid in contained classrooms for ages second through fourth. I have worked with teachers who use the ABA method and I know many of those techniques for behavioral needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
There honestly are too many to count but if I could recount on a specific feeling I’ve gotten it would be the euphoric feeling of seeing a student of mine in their new class thriving and using skills they learned while working with me. It’s the best feeling to see children grow and become more independent and their personalities develop. One of my favorite moments while caring for my niece and nephew would be the night my niece was very sad and crying and her brother told her “it’s okay to cry I love you”
