Hi, my name is Lauren. I'm 23 with a B.A. in Psychology and hope to attend Grad school to become a Marriage and Family Counselor. I have worked with all age groups (infants to school-aged children) and love them all. In my free time I enjoy being active outside as well as cooking, dabbling in art, reading, and listening to music. I also love pets, especially my dog, Tommy. I would describe myself as reliable, easygoing, creative, and optimistic. One of my favorite things about working with kids is getting to know their personalities and building a connection with them.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I like taking the kids out for walks or outdoors activities, doing crafts, coloring, reading to them, and having the occasional dance party to kid's songs. I can also assist any of the older ones with school work as needed and enjoy teaching the younger ones the alphabet, counting animals, seasons, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

In my opinion one of the most important things about being a nanny is building a strong connection with the children and a trusting relationship with the parents. Parents are trusting nanny's with their children which is a huge privilege and responsibility. As a child-care giver I want the parents to know their children are being cared for and loved and for the children to know this as well.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked in a Preschool Special Education classroom as a teaching assistant. We spent a lot of our time teaching and coaching our kids on skills needed for beyond and outside of preschool. My responsibilities included working with children on reaching goals in their Individualized Education Plans, teaching communication skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, emotional skills and awareness, and assisting in educational topics such as math, reading, writing, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Recently it was snowing outside and one of my kids shouted very excitedly that ice cream was falling from the sky. I laughed, explained that it was snow then picked him up to better see it out the window. He liked to think it was still ice cream so he kept calling it that and I couldn't blame him. :)
