More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a live in caretaker for my aunt and uncle's family for about 1.5 years, whose children were 4 and 2 at the beginning of my time there. I assisted with pick up, after school/daycare activities, housekeeping, dinner prep and bed time.
I also babysat through highschool on occasion. For example, I took care of a 1 y.o. for a couple of years, where we would play, eat and get ready for bed time while mom and dad had a night out.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Kids are so creative! I love to draw, paint, dance, and tell stories with kids. There was this one game I used to play with my cousins called "And then..." where we would tell fragments of a story and pass it along until a whole story was made.
I also love doing math and science with kids. Children are so excited to wrap their growing minds around new concepts. I love to bring school-taught knowledge back into the home to promote knowledge, help with absorption, and make school seem fun and relevant.
I also love go to the park and run around!

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is being attentive to the child's needs and safety, whether they be physical or emotional. It's important to have an adult that senses when things are askew, in order to sort them before they get out of hand.
My experience with special needs children...
I don't have experience with special needs kids. However, I'd be willing to learn more about the special needs and accommodations required for children that would potentially be in my care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The 4 y.o. I used to care for loved to draw, and his sister had been put down. Him and I created this long banner from craft paper and used it as both a living piece of art and a runway to do silly dances and poses on. He kept telling me to take pictures of his art. It was endearing to see him take his art so seriously, and it was a blast to play together.
