Hi there! My name is Leslie, and I am a dedicated and mindful caregiver with over 20 years of experience working with children of all ages. As the oldest of three sisters, a lifelong pet lover, and the granddaughter of an in home daycare, caregiving has been a vital part of my life.
Starting in the 6th grade, I was hands on helping out in my grandmother's daycare after school, on weekends, during holidays, and throughout the summer. Reading stories, arts and crafts, and organizing games. That early passion grew into taking on babysitting jobs for children of all age groups starting in junior high, which I absolutely loved. Today, as a mother to a 15-year old daughter, I also understand firsthand how important it is to find a trustworthy, capable caregiver for your children.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked for over three years at a formal daycare in my hometown, specializing in hands-on care for newborns and toddlers by managing feedings, nap schedules, diapering, and gentle developmental play. My caregiving journey began in sixth grade helping in my grandmother’s in-home daycare—leading arts and crafts, reading stories, preparing snacks, and organizing games—which grew into independent babysitting for children of all ages starting in junior high. Additionally, I actively volunteer with youth storytime and literacy programs at the public library, and as a dedicated animal lover, I also provide pet sitting and pet care alongside childcare.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Engaging in screen-free, interactive play that keeps kids active, curious, and creative. Building on my volunteer work at the public library, reading together and sharing storytime is one of my absolute favorite daily activities. I love playing classic board and card games like Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Guess Who?, Connect 4, Trouble, Sorry! and Go Fish, alongside learning games like memory matching, alphabet/number bingo, word building, developmental puzzles, and building with LEGOs or Magna-Tiles. For creative time, I enjoy hands-on arts and crafts, painting, play-dough sculpting, guided drawing, and sensory bins. When heading outside, I love keeping children active with neighborhood scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, sidewalk chalk, bubble blowing, Red Light Green Light, Simon Says, hopscotch, and fun lawn games.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the best part of being a nanny is building a genuine bond of trust and seeing a child’s confidence blossom through simple, meaningful moments. There is nothing quite like watching their faces light up when they finally master a tricky puzzle, learn a new word during storytime, or proudly show off a creative craft project we built together.
Being a nanny means being a steady, encouraging presence in a child’s daily life—helping them navigate new milestones, sparking their imagination through active, screen-free play, and giving parents complete peace of mind knowing their children and home are cared for with deep warmth, patience, and devotion.

My experience with special needs children...

Caring for my two nephews who are on the autism spectrum, which has given me firsthand, compassionate experience supporting neurodiverse children. Through caring for them, I have gained a deep understanding of sensory sensitivities, the importance of predictable routines, visual and non-verbal communication, and patient behavior management. I focus on positive reinforcement, creating a calm, structured environment, and offering quiet breaks when overstimulation occurs—always adapting activities to meet each child at their unique developmental level so they feel safe, understood, and encouraged.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite "nanny moments" was during a cozy afternoon when we turned a rainy day into a full-scale library adventure right in the living room.
We gathered a massive stack of picture books, built a huge fort out of blankets and cushions, and brought in flashlight "lanterns." I set up a little check-out station with handmade paper library cards so the kids could "check out" their favorite stories before we crawled inside to read together. After storytime, we played a lively game of Guess Who? and UNO inside the fort while drinking warm apple juice. Seeing their faces light up with pure joy over something so simple, creative, and screen-free was the perfect reminder of why I love caregiving so much.
