The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is building trust and fostering a safe, nurturing environment for the children. With six years as a nanny and three years in childcare with 3- to 5-year-olds, I’ve learned that trust which is earned through consistent care, open communication with parents, and genuine affection which creates a foundation where kids feel secure to grow, explore, and express themselves. This means being reliable, attentive to their emotional and physical needs, and adapting to each child’s unique personality.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was organizing a "mini adventure day" for the 4-year-old twins I cared for during my six years as a nanny. They were bursting with energy, so I set up a backyard treasure hunt with clues hidden in their favorite spots—under the slide, behind the sandbox, and even tucked in their playhouse. Each clue was a simple riddle I crafted to spark their curiosity, leading to a "treasure chest" (a decorated shoebox) filled with stickers, small toys, and homemade cookies. Watching their faces light up as they solved each clue together, giggling and racing around, was pure joy. It was a moment where I saw their teamwork and excitement shine, and their parents later told me they talked about the "epic hunt" for weeks! This experience, from my time working with 3- to 5-year-olds, reminded me why I love creating fun, engaging activities that make kids feel special and encourage their creativity.
