More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As a nanny, planning activities for both babies and toddlers can be a delightful and enriching experience. For babies, indoor activities might include sensory play with soft toys and textured fabrics, engaging story time with colorful picture books, music and movement sessions, tummy time with interesting toys, and finger painting with non-toxic paints. Outdoors, they can enjoy stroller walks in the park, baby-safe playgrounds, nature exploration, bubble blowing, and supervised water play in a small pool. For toddlers aged 2 to 5, indoor activities could involve arts and crafts, interactive storytelling, baking simple recipes, role play with dress-up games, and educational learning games. Outdoor adventures might include nature walks to collect leaves and rocks, playground time, simple sports like catch and obstacle courses, picnics in the park, and gardening activities where they can plant flowers or vegetables.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is ensuring the children's safety and well-being. It's crucial to build a strong, trusting relationship with them and their families, fostering open communication. Being adaptable, patient, and compassionate allows me to create a nurturing environment where children can thrive and be happy.

My experience with special needs children...

I have extensive experience taking care of children with autism, where I was responsible for all aspects of their daily care. This included feeding, changing diapers, cooking nutritious meals, and cleaning up after them. I ensured a safe and nurturing environment tailored to their unique needs, focusing on consistency and routine to help them feel secure. My role required patience, understanding, and the ability to adapt to their specific requirements, which I handled with dedication and compassion.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments with a baby was during a music and movement session. I put on some Colombian music, and we started swaying to the rhythm. The baby began to giggle and clap along. I grabbed a few musical toys, like maracas and a tambourine, and we had a mini dance party to the vibrant sounds of cumbia and vallenato. The baby's laughter and joyful expression were contagious, and we spent the afternoon immersed in the lively beats and melodies of Colombia. It was a simple yet incredibly special moment of connection and pure happiness, celebrating the rich culture through music.

Claudia N. - Seeking Work in New York

Part-Time Nanny Available in New York, NY: Claudia N.

Growing up in large family has meant that caring for others is second nature to me. The natural progression to nannying was easy for me & the position allows me to fulfil my passion of helping families to nurture children during their first years.

Nannying is such a rewarding position as you are helping to shape a young child through everyday interaction. I believe going outside & being in nature is a fantastic environment for children to learn. Additionally, reading is a fundamental part of any child’s development, especially starting from a young age. Reading allows children to learn words, colours, shapes in a fun and interactive way.

Outside of nannying I like to spend time; playing sports & am a member of the DC Dragon’s Netball club, I love to cook & learn new recipes and I am a volunteer Ombudsman with the US Coast Guard. An Ombudsman is a family liaison that aids & supports USCG families by providing resources & information to help mitigate the challenges of military life.
