The most important part about being a nanny is bonding with the kids and families, becoming someone they can trust, and also someone that they can rely on.
My experience with special needs children...
I watch two brothers pretty regularly, as needed back in my hometown. The older boy is diagnosed with autism. I have not encountered any barriers or trouble working with him, and I fully enjoy every moment. I have been an active member in the special needs community at my high school, I took part in an art class and PE class where I work closely with students with special needs to create awesome projects, and maintain a healthy exercise routine. I also loved to just hangout with the special needs kids at my school, I always made sure to have lunch with them at least once a week and stay in contact with them outside of school to create a friendship.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was hanging out with a 7 year old girl and her 10 year old brother, the girl wanted to play with her dolls while the boy wanted to play with water balloons. We worked together to come up with a way to do both at the same time and ended up including the dolls in the water balloon game. It was so awesome to see the kids work together, and smile and have fun while both getting to do the activities they wanted.
