I think the most important part about being a nanny is making sure they are safe of course, but also building bonds with the children, and gaining their trust. They need someone who not only cares about their physical wellbeing, but also their emotional.
My experience with special needs children...
I did peer tutoring my senior year, and became such close friends with some of the special needs kids! I would be willing to work with someone who is very high functioning.
