More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a student teacher from [phone number hidden], I have taught English as a second language in several predominantly Spanish speaking community outreach programs, and I volunteered in art therapy programs for children with the MOSCA foundation.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to go to museums, go hiking, take walks outdoors, collect flowers and interesting rocks as special treasures, make friendship bracelets, sing and make up songs, put on plays, give Barbie dolls fascinating background stories, swimming, jumping on the trampoline, reading stories as well as writing our own, sculpting with modeling clay, making holiday ornaments, the list could go on forever. Essentially, I love enjoying taking part in and creating lifelong childhood experiences and memories.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most essential part of being a nanny is to ensure that the children never feel for a moment that they are the means to a paycheck for you. Children often do ask about these things; little ones are very clever. It is essential that they fully understand that you are there because they matter to you, as an individual, and that everything else besides that is only secondary to the purpose of finding joy in getting to know them and growing as a team in new and fun ways.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children who have been on the autism spectrum, children who have been nonverbal in their communication, children with ADHD, children with ODD, and children who might just need an extra dose of affection, attention, and connection.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when my little girl asked me to paint my nails a specific color for her, and when I came in the next day with that color of nails, she just held them in silence for a moment and smiled at me, before wrapping herself around my shoulders very tightly. There were no words needed, in that moment.
