Hi! My name is Lindsey! I am 19 years old as of May 2025 and I am going into my Sophomore year at NAU this August. I am living in Flagstaff full-time August-April of 2025. I have a wide variety of experience with kids, and have just completed my second year as a lead counselor for Play Academy's Summer Camp! The bulk of my most recent experience is taking care of children ages 5-12. I am very confident in my ability to multitask, my problem-solving skills, and my ability to care for kids in that age range simultaneously. More importantly, I truly have a passion for working with kids! I love encouraging children’s growth and learning through kindness and mutual respect. My main goal in life is to leave a positive impact on others. I am also great with animals and have experience taking care of them professionally, so pets are totally ok! Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My volunteer experience as a group leader with Desert Streams Vacation Bible School was my first experience serving in a childcare role. My position as a lead counselor for Play Academy's summer camp, which I have filled for two consecutive summers, was my first time being the “legal guardian” of the kids under my care while they are at camp with us! As Play Academy’s lead counselor, it is my job to plan, adjust, and oversee the fulfillment of various activities that the children participate in for 6 hours each day from Monday-Friday! This position was very eye-opening to me regarding my passion for growth encouragement as a childcare provider.

I love engaging in games and activities that encourage the development of motor skills and cognitive function in children I work with. These activities can range from coloring to learning new skills in sports.

The most important part about working with children is leaving a positive impact on their lives, and ensuring they have what they need to learn and grow. Being able to encourage a child’s growth while maintaining a safe and stable environment is so rewarding!

As a counselor for Play Academy, I cared for kids who were on the spectrum, and worked with their families to ensure they had a positive camp experience.
