More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I started caring for various ages of children when I was 12 years old, and continued through my college years. I was a live-in nanny for a summer during my college years and took care of 2 boys who were 2 and 4 during that time. I also took care of 4 girls from the ages of 2-5 back when my girls were younger. Then, I was the nursery coordinator at my church for a while when my youngest was a baby. I was in charge of paid workers and volunteers who took care of the children, age birth - 4 years. I’ve also raised 5 girls, and now the youngest is 16.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Swimming, sand box or water table, bubbles, playdough, board games, going for walks.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Keeping the child safe and loving him/her well.
My experience with special needs children...
When I was a nanny, the family I lived next to had an autistic boy who I interacted with some. During college, one family I helped with had a child with Down’s syndrome. She was around 11 or 12, I believe. Then, as an adult, I took care of a girl under 1 year that had a rare genetic disorder so she was developmentally and physically delayed.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The 2 year old boy I took care of for the summer always wanted to wear the same outfit everyday, black sweatpants and a sweatshirt. In the summer it was pretty hot so I successfully convinced him to wear different clothes, most of the time. Of course, on his birthday in July, he wore his favorite outfit.😁
