My experience with special needs children...
As a 4K teacher I had two boys in my classroom with special needs and had to go to a state mandated training to best understand how to care for them and teach them. It was the best! We developed such a deep bond- I miss them to this day. My former roommate was also a special ed teacher at a local elementary school. When she would do home visits for one of her students as asked for by the parent, I was asked to join and assist.
