More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve been working with children since I was a child myself! My mother’s coworker had children when I quite young so I voluntarily baby sat them all the time. I learned how to change diapers, put them down for naps, and keep a good eye for any mischievous behavior. Additionally, I became an older sister when I was 14 years old! After school, I would watch over my baby sister for at least 3 hours every day. That included bottle feeding, changing diapers, putting her down for naps, burping, and much more. She is 6 years old and growing, so I get to experience baby sitting her through every stage!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to share many of my hobbies with my little sister. I hold “tea time” in the afternoon, teach her the basics on how to play guitar, drawing/painting, going on walks, baking, and more. She especially loves when I make my special chocolate chip cookies for tea time! Of course, she has me playing dolls and Barbie’s too, as that was also one of my favorite play times as a child. I’m always open to discovering new ways to have fun. As she grows older, I learn to adapt to more activities she finds fun!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is being there for them. Not just in the sense of watching over them, but making the whole experience a joyful one. I grew up with many parts of my childhood being raised by my nanny, but I don’t look back at my childhood missing my mom in those moments because my nanny filled in those moments. I remember her teaching me how to make fried rice and dumplings in the afternoon then chasing me around the house to take my medication. She wasn’t just a nanny, but a family member.

My experience with special needs children...

My mother’s friend has a special needs child whom I’ve baby sat a few times. He was around 2 years old, so I mainly just played and made sure he was fed. I grew up around a couple special needs children in my elementary school so I’m also aware how they may behave in an academic setting and have a deeper understanding.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments would be seeing how much they’re enjoying their time with me! I always try to do my best to make others feel uplifted and happy because anyone, no matter how young, may be going through something you aren’t aware of. If I had to name a specific moment, I’d say the first time I had tea time with my little sister. I showed her Alice in Wonderland while we sipped on tea and had small sandwiches I had made. Now, she is asking for tea time all the time!
