When working at a sleep away camp, the kids in my cabin were my responsibility for the summer. I became a surrogate parent for them and enjoyed the chance to bond with them. Working as a nanny did the same, I bonded with the toddlers and infant I was watching and became their "auntie".
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor activities I love are art projects and baking. I am an artist myself and art is such a great way for kids to learn and express themselves. Sidewalk chalk, biking, scooters, swing sets, and just being outside and encouraging their creativity are my favorite outside activities. Going on a walk/bike ride with the kids and dog is always fun as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Caring for the kids in the way that best suits them. It isn't about the easiest way, sometimes you have to change how you work to fit the kid. Adaptability is very crucial.
My experience with special needs children...
In middle school I was part of an after school program called United Sound. I worked with a classmate of mine who had Down Syndrome to learn how to play the trombone.
