I began long term babysitting for families in 2018 and continue to have lasting relationships with those families and their children! In this setting I worked with infants, as well as preschooler-preteens. Since September 2021, I have worked with the Akron Area YMCA as a school age child care staff member and assistant child care director(promoted May 2022). I have many child care trainings under my belt including First Aid/CPR, communicable diseases, and a background check through the YMCA. I have my bachelor's degree in Urban Affairs and Nonprofits(graduated May 2021), so while I did not intend to turn child care into a career it has worked out! I love to encourage independence and curiosity. Personally, I love going on adventures, from camping to concerts, and love engaging in personal hobbies like crochet.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being someone the family can trust and taking care of the kids how the parents want and expect! I believe there should be similar expectations for children between parents and other caregivers. I've worked with many different families from various cultural backgrounds as well and strive to integrate family culture and identity in the care I give. Giving children a solid routine and foundation to grow is so important!

My experience with special needs children...

Worked with many children on the autism spectrum at the YMCA. Physical disabilities, no work experience but my dad is a paraplegic so I have some experience with that, and willing to learn to care for any needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I just love becoming part of a family, being someone kids feel comfortable with, and being trusted by the parents. I love creating a strong familial connection and am still in contact with all former families, and maintain relationships with many of my Y families that have aged out/moved.
