I think it’s between making sure that the parents know their kids are in good and safe hands so they can focus on what they need to and also making sure that the kids don’t dread the time their parents are away. It’s important for everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy the time that I would be there to help and support the family.
My experience with special needs children...
As a nanny I cared for a 5 year old boy who had autism. There are definitely struggles but that doesn’t make him any different from your average toddler. They will always be a lot of work but that is why I love this job since I know that my help is beneficial to the family!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment was over time the two boys I was a nanny for, slowly warmed up to me being in their lives quite often. One day I was walking in and they were ready to come running to the door and show me what we would be playing with for the morning. It warmed my heart knowing that they enjoyed my presence as much as I enjoyed my time with them!
