A little bit about me

I’m a junior at Northeastern State University – Broken Arrow getting my bachelor’s degree in special education, focusing on students on the autism spectrum. I plan to get my master’s degree in psychology after graduation. In my free time, I play wheelchair basketball on a team in Tulsa. I played at the DI college level at UT-Arlington where I completed my first 2 years of college. Along with wheelchair basketball, I enjoy reading, baking, and arts & crafts. I have 4 years of paid experience, 2 of which were in a daycare/classroom setting and the other 2 were in a babysitting/nannying position. I’m CPR, AED, and First-Aid certified and have well-versed experience with children under the age of 12, particularly toddlers and infants. I’m skilled in potty training, meal prep, housecleaning, and working with pets. Along with this, I have my own car and a clean driving record. I love to build connections with kids and help them grow and thrive as they get older.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I recently had the opportunity to be a babysitter for a lovely family in Claremore. I worked roughly 15-20 hours per week taking care of their lovely 3 year old. Along with this I also recently got to participate in a tutoring program where I was paired up with a 9 year old girl from Broken Arrow public school system. We met for one hour once a week for 10 weeks and I loved every second of it.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the best way to foster a solid nanny-family experience is to have clear communication on all levels. My communication to parents and/or legal guardians is a crucial part of my job. I always make sure to provide updates and send at least one picture, especially if were doing an activity. On the flip side of this, I think communication from the parents/guardians to the nanny is just as important. Without guidelines and expectations in place, its easy to see things from different points of view which could lead to conflict.
