I was a teacher for kiddos aged 3 months to 10 years old at a Primrose School location. I worked there for 15 months, and loved every minute! I have 2 summers experience being a camp counselor for kids aged 3-12, and I was a dance instructor for 3 and 4 year old girls for one year.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Arts and crafts! I had to be very creative with my projects during my time as a teacher. I love to be active with them (swimming, parks, soccer, dancing). I also love to read stories to them that I read as a child. My favorite book is, "The Rainbow Fish".
The most important part about being a nanny...
Most important for being a nanny is safety. Making sure the children in my care are not only safe, but comfortable and engaged will always be my top priority. Being there for the kiddos and supporting them when they have very big feelings is important to me as well.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not had any professional certification for the care of special needs children. I have cared for some in the classroom environment, but I am not specialized in any way.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I once had a 3 year old girl who had a meltdown because she wanted to bring me an ice cream cone from her house! Her mom patiently explained that it would melt, but she was heartbroken. She has no idea, but that small gesture meant the world to me.
