A little bit about me

Hello I’m Madlen Conley. I have worked with children for 7 years now. I currently nanny for two families with ages ranging from 2-14. I volunteered for local children’s camps in my community. I taught private swim lessons, I was a lifeguard, and I worked with a Boys and Girls Club in Monroe County. I am a Master's student at The University of Tennessee studying Geography. I enjoy being outdoors and being active. I also do a lot of baking in my free time. I believe I have a passion to help children. I see myself continuing to help families and children in the future!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

When I was 12 I began volunteering with The Monroe Area Council for the Arts Art Camp. I volunteered with them for 3 years. I taught dance classes for the end-of-the-week performances. When I turned 15, I began teaching private swimming lessons for children ages 3-12. I also taught safety swimming to children with disabilities. I continue to do this. Three years ago I began as a lifeguard for Ingleside Pool. This summer due to Covid-19, I took a leave from the pool and began work with the Vonore Boys and Girls Club. All of my experiences led me to the Boys and Girls Club. I teach all different age groups but feel my experiences were vital to the job. It is challenging because there are so many different personalities of children. I have learned more this year than I have with any of my work experience. Caring for these children means a lot to me.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to play games with children. At my youth group, I led games every Wednesday night. I also love to do anything active outside whether it is soccer, swimming, jump rope, or just a walk. Indoors I love to play board games, puzzles, and my favorite, baking.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is ensuring that the children feel safe and loved. Children deserve to be children and have fun!

My experience with special needs children...

I have taught a few children with physical and/or mental disabilities. I am currently a nanny for a great family and two of the boys are autistic. It has been (and continues to be) a wonderful experience. At the Boys and Girls Club I have taught and cared for multiple children with mental disabilities. The same feeling of safety applies here too.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is always doing fun activities with the kids. I love to go on walks or ride bikes with the family I nanny for!!
