A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Mady. I have several years of experience working with kids through nannying, daycare, and my current role in foster care with OKDHS. I’ve worked with all ages, including infants, and I’m CPR/First Aid and Safe Sleep certified. I’m very hands-on and love being involved in whatever kids are into, whether that’s playing, getting outside, or just keeping them busy and engaged. I’m big on routines and making sure kids feel comfortable and secure in their environment. I’m currently working on my Master’s in Social Work and will be starting my practicum in July, graduating September 2027. I’ll need two weekdays off (flexible), but I’m open to additional days or weekends. I’m hoping to find something long-term where I can really get to know a family and be a consistent part of their routine. Outside of work, I’m usually with my husband and our dog Roni, or reading and crafting in my downtime.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have experience working with children in a variety of settings. I worked in a daycare during college for different age groups and helping with routines, play and learning activities. I've also nannied and babysat for several families over the years. Currently I work full-time with OKDHS in the foster care system, where I work closely with children and families. This has given me a strong experience in child development, behavior, communication and creating a safe, supportive environment. I'm CPR and safe sleep certified, have reliable transportation, and genuinely enjoy being a consistent, and positive presence in a child's life.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing a mix of fun and engaging activities with kids! I enjoy getting outside when possible, like going to the park or the zoo. I also love crafting and making things- that was always my favorite part of working in daycare. I try to keep activities age-appropriate and engaging for each child. With younger children, I really enjoy watching them grow, learn and start to take the lead in play and exploring their environment. With older kids, I enjoy baking and showing them how to make things, which can be both fun and a great learning experience. I love creating a balance of fun, creativity and learning in everyday activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny to me is safety and trust. I know that probably sounds a little cliché, but truly my line of work with OKDHS has shown me just how important it is. I've seen firsthand how much it matters for parents to feel confident in who they're leaving their children with, and how big of a responsibility that is. I value creating a safe, stable and supportive environment where children feel comfortable and cared for, and where parents can have real peace of mind knowing their child is in good hands. Being someone a family can truly trust is something I take very seriously.

My experience with special needs children...

I want to be upfront that I don't have formal experience with children with special needs. However, I do have some personal experience with my nephew, who is autistic. Spending time with him has helped me learn patience, flexibility, and how important it is to meet each child where they are. While i may not have professional experience in this area, I am very open to learning and willing to follow routines, guidance, and any specific needs a family has to bed support their child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was when I stayed with two boys I had nannied for over a year while their parents were out of town for a week. It was the first time I was fully in charge overnight for that long, and it up being such a fun and special week. We spent a lot of time at the pool and even went to the science museum, which they loved. Watching them explore and get excited over everything was so fun. The younger was about to turn 3 and the older was 5, and I remember realizing how much he had grown over the time I had been with them. It was really special getting to watch their bond. It was one of those moments that reminded me how much I truly enjoy being around kids and being part of their every day lives.
