A little bit about me

Hi my name is Maira, I go by Mai sometimes. I am 29 years old and have been working with children for almost 6 years now and love every minute of it. I am currently getting my Associates Degree in Child Development and then plan on transferring to Cal State Dominguez Hills in the fall of 2026. I am a mother to a beautiful 4 year old girl and currently work part time at a Montessori school. Some hobbies of mine are to read books, go on hikes, and do modern calligraphy. I am excited to keep expanding my experience and memories with children as I love their energy and creativity.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at the Los Altos YMCA with ages 9-13 and also children 4-8. I also worked at a daycare center with infants all the way through age 5. As well as a home based center with children age 0-2. I have also been a nanny for about 4 years with 5 different families ages 6 months-5 years old. Currently at a Montessori school working with children 2-5.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

All arts and crafts are my favorite activity to do with children. I am very creative and use what we have in hand to make the best craft! I love to plan activities but when it’s spontaneous it’s better.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is creating memories and becoming a special person in the child’s life. I am beyond grateful and proud to say that I have been a part of many children’s lives and have become not just their nanny but their friend. I love the fact that with those children that I no longer nanny I still have communication with them.

My experience with special needs children...

I currently don’t have experience working with special needs children but one day I hope to obtain experience and also be a part of their lives as they also need a lot of guidance and support.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment has to be when I witnessed twin girls I nannied for about 3 years get their first ever bikes! It was such a special moment we shared and it amazed me how significant one thing can be to a child’s life no matter what it is.
