A little bit about me

My name is Makayla and I am 24 years old! I love sports and anything outdoors! I fell in love with kids during my middle school years! My mom was a stay at home mom, but during my middle school years she started nannying a 3 month old boy! I absolutely fell in love with helping my mom watch him! I have 7 years of nanny/teaching experience along with babysitting friend’s children and cousins. I do have experience in special needs, particularly Tourette’s syndrome, OCD, ADD, ADH, sensory disorders as well as autism from helping with my brother. I used to be a one year olds teacher and have taken some classes on development and curriculum for infants and toddlers. I’m currently working on my CDA! I have four years of professional nannying. The most important part for me is making an impact. We live in a crazy world today and I want to be able to make an impact on our next generation and invest in them. I had many people invest into me throughout my life and it’s made a huge impact having that support.

My experience with special needs children...

My brother had severe Tourette’s syndrome and OCD along with ADD, ADHD and a severe sensory disorder. I’ve learned extreme patience while growing up with him. I also have two cousins with Autism and three other cousins with Tourette’s, OCD, ADD, ADHD and sensory disorders. These experiences have given me the ability of gaining a deep level of patience and understanding! I also have professional experience in taking care of two children with sensory disorders and autism.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I absolutely love growing a relationship with the children I care for as well as their guardians. My favorite moment is watching them grow and experiencing those “ah-ha” moments. When they are struggling to either express themselves, solve a puzzle or trying to work together with their siblings and they figure it out themselves or even with a little help is what encourages me and provides satisfaction growth for the kids!
