Making sure your kids feel important & that they’re having fun, learning, & growing as people. It’s important to connect with the kids & make sure they know they can trust you, & to also make sure you’re meeting their parents/guardians standards in doing so.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve cared for a Down’s syndrome boy who was 17, a boy on the spectrum who was 16, & a mute & deaf girl who was 16 at Woods Cross High School as a peer tutor. I helped them read, write, & whatever else they needed help with, we went for walks, played games, & did homework together.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Once when I was at the house of a family that I nannied for to watch one of the kids I cared for overnight, she got all dressed up & danced around the house, she was giggling & running around like wild just having a great time! We also played with Barbies & I made her dinner, I cleaned up the dishes & the toys afterwards & took her to bed to read her a bedtime story, she fell asleep & the fun continued the next day!
